Public Service

Alongside his business activity, Amit views public service as a central part of his work.

Sderot and the Tkuma Directorate

Since 2023, Amit has served as Senior Advisor to the Mayor of Sderot, Alon Davidi, on a fully voluntary basis, focusing on economic development and urban growth.

After October 7, the role expanded: Amit works on an ongoing basis with the Tkuma Directorate in the Prime Minister's Office, the body charged with the recovery of the Gaza-envelope communities. Among the moves Amit initiated and advanced together with the municipality, the Tkuma Directorate, and additional partners:

The Rimon Sderot Campus. A branch of the Rimon School of Music opened in the city with an investment of some 15 million shekels, in a 1,700 sqm building in the heart of Sderot, following contacts led by Amit as the municipality's representative. The campus offers bachelor's and master's programs in music and music therapy in partnership with Israeli academic institutions, and maintains a professional affiliation with Berklee College of Music in Boston. The Sapir College Technology Campus. As part of a 200 million shekel investment by the Tkuma Directorate in Sapir Academic College, a new campus for the Faculty of Technology is being built near the Sderot train station, in partnership with the Sderot Municipality and the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, with the aim of creating a continuum of academia, industry, and innovation centers. "Sderot High-Tech." A 15 million shekel program of the Tkuma Directorate and the municipality to establish a residential compound for some 70 families of technology-industry workers relocating to the city, including a graduated rent subsidy over three years and shared workspaces, alongside a plan to establish a high-tech park in the city in the coming years. R&D Infrastructure in the Tkuma Region. A call for proposals by the Israel Innovation Authority, the Tkuma Directorate, and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology for the establishment of up to three R&D infrastructures in the Tkuma region, with total grants of up to 130 million shekels, aimed at developing a technological innovation ecosystem in the region, accelerating research and development, and driving regional economic growth. Bilingual Kindergartens. The opening of bilingual Hebrew-English kindergartens in Sderot: four opened in the 2025-2026 school year, with three more opening in 2026-2027, for a total of seven bilingual kindergartens in the city, giving Sderot's children access to bilingual education from early childhood.

The President of Israel's "Kol HaAm" Council

Amit is among the 150 members of the "Kol HaAm" (Voice of the People) Council, the initiative established by President Isaac Herzog to strengthen the bond between Israel and world Jewry. The council, which convened for the first time in 2025, is composed of 50 members from Israel, 50 from North America, and 50 from the rest of the world, and works to develop responses to the central challenges facing the Jewish people after October 7.

For Amit, a member of a family active for four generations in Israel and Los Angeles, the bond between Israel and the Diaspora is not an abstract idea but a family biography.

Aurion, Tel Aviv University

Amit is a member of Aurion, the next-generation community of Tel Aviv University's Board of Governors, which brings together young leaders from Israel and abroad in support of the university and Israeli research.
